Direct Payment Support Service

What we do

We are a team of Independent Living Advisors who provide support, advice and information to individuals and families interested in taking their personal budget as a Direct Payment. We also work with parents of children and their families who receive Direct Payments.

Using Direct Payments as a way of managing a personal budget brings a whole new dimension to how support can be provided. With the right level of support and encouragement, we believe, anyone can take control of their support needs and use the experience to make positive changes to their lives.

Our service enables individuals to explore creatively ways in which they can meet their support needs. By tailoring it to the person’s unique circumstances we work together to achieve outcomes that are innovative and give choice and control.

An example of what we do

We support you to:

  • Manage your personal budget in ways that keep you in control
  • Plan for contingencies and changes to your support
  • Referring you to other resources in the community, like care agencies
  • Explore how to pool your Direct Payments
  • Understand Direct Payment policy, procedures, rights and entitlements
  • Problem solve around the management of your personal budget
  • Become a responsible employer, in areas such as employment law, writing job descriptions, preparing for interviews, setting up pay roll, and employment contracts

We can assist you by providing the tools with which to manage your Direct Payment so you can effectively administer your support needs and stay in control.

We have a comprehensive website that offers online resources such as our Recruitment Guide which is a one-stop shop for all information to do with becoming an employer. Our PA Finder resource helps you to independently search for personal assistants. You can also keep in touch with the latest news and views on key topics by signing on to our chat room, facebook page and following us on twitter.

Our vision is to connect people and encourage community networking, so young people, individuals and families can link up with each other, share personal experiences and information.

Through our work we hope to create stronger communities and believe that each person has a valuable contribution to make.
