RUILS has been successfully delivering training courses to local authorities and other organisations for the past 5 years. All of our courses are a combination of theory, practical hands on techniques, group discussion and participant engagement.
We have a wealth of experience in developing person-centred services and are able to adapt our courses to meet your specific requirements.
For each course participants will receive handouts which will contain practical guides, tools and examples.

Direct Payments This one day course is delivered by frontline staff and offers the unique perspective of clients that are managing their own Direct Payment this course covers every aspect of Direct Payments.
At the end of the course participants will know: 1. What a Direct Payment is? 2. What Direct Payments mean for the local authority? 3. What they mean for the individual 4. How to promote Direct Payments to clients 5. How to set up a Direct Payment 6. How to budget a Direct Payment 7. How to advise clients to manage Direct Payment 8. How to advise clients to record their Direct Payment expenditure
Support Planning & Brokerage This two day training course aims to equip care managers, social workers, support brokers and others with the tools to Support Plan with individuals. It is a very practical course that allows individuals to try out different techniques and gain first-hand experience of support planning.
At the end of the course the participants will: 1.Have a clear understanding of all the jargon of SDS and Support Planning. 2.Have a clear understanding of the Support Planning Process. 3.Be confident to engage individuals and their families in the Support Planning Process. 4.Have an understanding of the seven essential elements of a Support Plan. 5.Be more confident to negotiate with support providers. 6.Have access to different tools to enable them to plan. 7.Have ideas of where to get support for individuals. 8.Be able to support an individual to write, budget and implement a robust Support Plan.

Becoming a Direct Payment Employer This one day course aims to give individuals or the professionals working with the individuals the knowledge that they need to start employing their own Personal Assistant. For this course we use our site www.employ-a-pa.co.uk as a guide. This site is a step-by step guide to the recruitment and employment process.
At the end of this session participants will: 1. Understand the responsibilities of being an employer 2. Understand the requirements of Inland Revenue 3. Understand the basics of employment law and where to get help 4. Understand the basic dos and don’ts of being an employer.
Pooling Direct Payments This half- day course aims to give participants the information and the tools that they need to start their own group by pooling their Direct Payments. When people pool their knowledge, skill and/or Direct Payment they are able to get more for their money, do activities as a group and share in an experience together/
By the end of the session the individuals will: 1. Understand what a Direct Payment is and how they can use it. 2. Understand what Pooling is and what they can do with their Direct Payment. 3. Know what they need to consider when setting up their own group. 4. Understand the processes and key decisions that need to be made with they are setting up a group. 5. Understand the different options available to them. 5. Know where to go to get support. 6. Feel confident to go out and set up their own group All participants of this seminar will receive a copy of our Booklet: Pooling Direct Payments – Your Ideas, Your Way. |
