Last Saturday 27th March, over 100 dancers signed up to join the Ruils Big Zumba Challenge, designed to raise funds for our Befriending service for disabled children in Kinston and Richmond boroughs.
Fabulous local Zumba instructor, Diego Avila, put us through our paces in a fun-filled dance session, and helped us to raise £2,269! Thank you so much to everyone who joined in the fun and helped us to reach our fundraising target.
In a typical year we provide around 10,000 hours of support to local children, working with up to 100 families and 70 befrienders. This year has been even more challenging for those families who have children with additional needs and disabilities and many need our support more than ever.
Our befriending service aims to help disabled young people to get out and enjoy activities of their choice with a peer, which they may not have the ability or confidence to attend alone.
