What is Assistive Technology?

Assistive Technology (AT) can involve any device, software or piece of equipment that enables you to live more independently. Delivered by Ruils, this pilot project is funded by Richmond Council who plan to build the use of technology into the range of support they offer individuals in the future.

You can refer yourself or another organisation may refer you to our service. When we look at your application, we will take care to personalise the support we offer so that it helps you to be more independent. For example, to enable you to:

  • Do more things for yourself
  • Connect with others
  • Do online shopping

How does the project work?

Following a call with one of our Independent Living Advisers, we will assess your needs and agree an AT package with you that can be built on in future if needed. Our engineer may visit you to do a survey and once we have agreed the detail and ordered your equipment he will attend to arrange installation and show you how to use your technology if required. We will make sure to review how your support system is working for you and we will be on hand to resolve any issues you might have.
