About Me
I oversee the services and projects that Ruils run and make sure that we are delivering the services that our clients want and need. I have been with Ruils in various roles for 16 years now and have been working with a great team of trustees, staff and volunteers to develop services that support individuals to live the life of their choice. My background is in Health Psychology and I have worked in the private medical health sector as well as being a recruitment consultant. I have two teenage boys and spend a lot of time ferrying them around or standing on the side of football and rugby pitches. I love reading and walking and travelling to new places.

About Me
I joined the Ruils team in 2011 as a Support Planner and Broker for Self Directed Support in Richmond. At the same time I worked as a supervisor for Bluebird Care, a home care agency, setting up new care packages and supervising carers. My background before that was in retail marketing in the food industry. I joined Ruils in a full time role at the beginning of 2013 working on many different projects including Pooling Budgets and developing the find-a-pa website. I now manage the adult services team which includes our volunteer befriender service, community activities, Pathways benefits and housing advice service and the Direct Payment Support Service, which provides information advice and support for individuals to choose and organise their care. I have lived in Twickenham for almost 30 years and know the area well, but originally I am from Leeds, and like most northerners, I call a spade a spade. To keep fit I row and cycle and my trusty bike is my main way of getting quickly around the Borough.

About Me
I joined Ruils in 2016 as our first dedicated fundraiser, at a time when council funding was being cut and Ruils was passionate about continuing to provide services to local disabled people. We don’t receive any council funding for our children’s services, so I arrived with a clear task. Before having children, I worked as Assistant Director of Fundraising at Barnardo’s. Being the only fundraiser at Ruils is very different! My day might involve filling in an application for a big grant from Comic Relief, trekking the Thames Path for Ruils, carol singing at Richmond station or cheering marathon runners. I love the variety, and whilst I may be the only dedicated Fundraiser, the whole Ruils team gets involved in making sure our services are funded each year. I work part-time and my spare time sees me running (not that fast, sometimes for Ruils), swimming, reading, enjoying family & friend time and planning my next trip.

About Me
I joined Ruils in July 2014 to continue co-ordinating the Sitting and Befriending Service when the Three Wings Trust sadly closed and this part of the operation was transferred to Ruils. I had been running the service for 9 years in which time it has grown from supporting just a small number of families with a handful of sitters/befrienders to now supporting over 80 families with more than 40 sitters/befrienders. I am delighted that Ruils embraced the service - personally, to be part of a dynamic and supportive team - and that families with children and young people with disabilities in the Borough will continue to benefit from the service. I am married with 3 children and my youngest, Sophie (now 16) is disabled. It was having Sophie that inspired me to pursue this career after an earlier career in computer technical support. Outside of work I love yoga and go dancing once a week which is based on Strickly ! At home, I enjoy reading and have discovered Kindle. I also love watching all the junk TV that my husband hates.

About Me
Having been volunteering for a year with Ruils since the beginning of the pandemic, I was encouraged to apply for the Community and Volunteer Manager position. Up until that point I had worked in the commercial media sector for Reuters and Bloomberg. I had had a great career at these two fantastic companies, but had reached a stage of my life where I wanted a completely new challenge and to give back to my local community in a way that helped enriched people’s lives. My time as a volunteer had open my eyes to what a secret gem of a charity Ruils is. Ruils do incredible work in the community supporting disabled children and adults and the elderly to live independent lives. My work as Ruils’ Community and Volunteer Manager enables me to facilitate the delivery of a Befriending service, as well as a multitude of activities that include a theatre workshop, an allotment, a creative writing group, wellbeing walks and others as well. And the cherry on the cake, after 25 years of trains and tubes in Central London, I have a 10 minute walk to work!

I came to Ruils just after the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in September 2020. I work across a number of projects, primarily focusing on our Befriending+ and Active from Home services but also supporting our Core20 and Health In Your Hands projects. Each of these work to enable people in the borough to live the rich and independent lives that they deserve – something of which I’m immensely proud. I was born and grew up in Kingston, and stayed there while I studied Latin and Ancient Greek at University College London. Before joining Ruils, I was living and working in a small city in Japan as a high school English teacher. When I’m not out and about exploring somewhere new, you’ll most likely find me enjoying classic movies, reading sci-fi or horror stories and trying not to mess up a needlessly complex meal (with varying degrees of success)…

I have worked in the Wandsworth borough for over 10 years and have undertaken extensive training in Makaton, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Mental Health Awareness. I am a mum to two children, which means I have often got my hands full, but when I can finally have some ‘me’ time I love to go for walks listening to music, draw and love getting lost in a good book, especially short stories published by the Reading Agency. It’s an incredible skill being able to create a compelling plot over short chapters.

About Me
I joined Ruils in July 2023 having spent most of my career in education, mainly working in pastoral support, particularly at SEN specialist schools and with early years, most recently at a forest nursery school for children. I have a degree in History and Heritage Management and I’m a qualified Massage Therapist and Reflexologist. Therapeutic roles have included volunteering giving massages to the homeless and the elderly. Having struggled with dyslexia and dyscalculia at school, and later as an adult with ADHD, I have the experience of living with a hidden disability. My motivation in joining Ruils is to make a real difference to people’s lives and enable them to widen their life choices. I feel proud to have joined the team at Ruils. When I am not working, I enjoy doing yoga (preferably in the park), reading, poetry, walking, or singing with my choir.

About Me
I was excited to be appointed Independence Coordinator and join the Ruils team in June 2021. This is a new project where professionals from primary care, social care and community services work together in a more proactive coordinated way to improve the quality of care and boost outcomes for people in the local community. My background over the past 20 years has been in schools and social care, working alongside other professionals supporting and empowering families to facilitate change using a holistic approach. In my spare time I like to take my dog on long walks and spend time with the family. At the weekends you can often find me sat on the sofa watching football, F1 or rugby!

About Me
I had the privilege of joining the Ruils team in September 2021. My career path has been varied, ranging from health and beauty PR to painting children's furniture. I needed a change of career after my two children were born and had a very happy time working as a PLSA in the learning support department of different schools throughout the Richmond borough. Over the past 14 years I have worked at a Kingston charity providing services for people with a learning disability and their family carers, I started as a support worker and then went on to manage all aspects of running a small local charity. In my personal life I have just become a grandmother which is wonderful, I prefer being called nanny rather than granny. I love dogs and have just started open water swimming which I don't love yet, but I read it has many health benefits.

About Me
In July 2023, I was delighted to join the Ruils Proactive Anticipatory Care (PAC) team as a Care Coordinator in the Richmond PCN. My background is quite diverse but the PAC Care Coordinator role utilises many of the skills I’ve learned along the way. I worked as a live-in carer for a year when I first moved to the UK. In South Africa, I was Operations Coordinator at a vegan cosmetics company and Research Assistant at a renewable energy fund. As a student, I was involved in awareness raising, event planning and fundraising for a number of causes, including LGBT and anti-GBV initiatives and a stem-cell donor recruitment NPO. In my spare time, I enjoy going to concerts, knitting or exploring my new home of London.

In my free time I love reading, socialising, traveling and learning about different cultures.

About Me
I joined RUILS in July 2023 as a PAC Care Coordinator covering the West Twickenham area. My background has been both clinical and administrative. I graduated as a qualified nurse (RGN) with a BSc Hons Degree and nursed in both public and private sectors. From there I moved on to various roles in the Department of Health, working on medically related policy and later, the Department for Education working on policy surrounding Children in Need and Families. I took a career break to bring up 4 very active children, thankfully all now young adults, and felt it was a great time to get back to my first love of working with people and managing their care in a truly holistic way. I love music, especially Soul & R&B, pottering in my garden, spending time with my family and keep fit classes at the gym, when time allows!

About Me
I joined the Social Prescribing team at Ruils in September 2023, after being made aware of the amazing work they do through a friend. Whilst my background is not the most conventional path into this role, having spent the past 6 years working in Advertising, I love listening to people and problem solving and wanted to do a more meaningful job that makes a difference. Having family members with disabilities and mental health issues has shown me the importance of community and having a good network around you, so I really believe in the work Ruils does and am excited to be part of their journey. In my spare time I love pottering about London, seeing friends, visiting galleries, finding new places to eat and binge-watching Real Housewives.

About Me
I had the pleasure of joining Ruils and becoming a Social Prescribing Link Worker in 2023. I look forward to supporting the Kew, Sheen and Barnes PCN and contributing to a well established social prescribing landscape across this community. I have experience of being a service user as I self-referred to Dose of Nature, a local charity that does 8 week prescriptions in nature, during the Covid-19 pandemic. I've also worked in Arts and Education for over 20 years, most recently as a creative producer for a local dance charity specialising in wellbeing and arts activities in the community. I have 3 children who are in their late teens/ early 20's who are now more or less independent. I enjoy travelling, swimming, walking and I fully intend to keep teaching yoga into my dotage.
