Volunteer Befriending Service

Our Volunteer befriending service recruits and trains volunteers to visit clients at their home on a regular basis for company and social activities. Visits are usually 2 hrs a week and may involve a short walk, chatting at home or visiting community groups or a place of interest together. We try to carefully match our volunteers and clients in terms of their interests and backgrounds and the service is open to adult clients with a registered disability. We currently operate a waiting list so may not have volunteers available immediately.

During COVID we have been unable to offer face to face visits but these will be reintroduced gradually as restrictions relax. We are operating a telephone befriending service.

For more information about accessing the service, or volunteering to become a befriender, please contact Gary on 0208 831 6083 or email garywilliams@ruils.co.uk

'Thank you for today. You really brought a lot of light into my life, especially after a few weeks of feeling very low and being deeply depressed. I walked away feeling grateful and thankful for our time and for 'you being you'. This Befriending has been a special journey and I want to say how much I appreciate you and all of your support'. From a client to her befriender.
